Kush was known as the oldest sub-Saharan African kingdom between 2000 B.C. E. to 350 C.E., now modern day Sudan. The land was known for its extensive trade routes and rich natural resources such as gold, ivory, and ebony. By 1700 B.C.E., The Kush empire was the most powerful state in the Nile Valley, with the best archers earning the nickname, “the Land of Bow.” Kush had a strong active influence on northern African culture and throughout the Mediterranean. The people of Kush were referred to as Nubian's, and depicted in Old Kingdom Egyptian art and literature as being dark-skinned.
The Kushite king Kashta arrived in Egypt during its fall in the 25th dynasty followed by king Piye to restore Egypt back to its former glory. The Kush kingdom continued to flourish and expand until overwhelming invasions by Assyrians in 656 BC.
The Kush Empire began to lose economic power as Roman influence began to dominate Egypt. Eventually, the Romans took over all the northern African trade routes, which were once controlled by the Kush empire. The capital city of Kush, Meroe, was abandoned around 350 CE. With the Kush empire collapsing around 500 CE. As the traditional industries of Kush were overshadowed by Roman production, they faded away from history.
Made by the Kings and Queens of Africa. From a kingdom called Kush. Where every race across the seas came to get books. Until it was invaded and the knowledge stolen. Along with the people whose spirits had been broken. We were enslaved and taken from our families. Then put on a plantation, and our land had been taken. Until we were awakened. They made the Underground Railroad to save our people. Cuz the way we were treated was Medieval. The journey was long and dangerous, but we did what we had to obtain justice. 500 years later, ain’t nothing change. Cuz when I walk past this lady, I still see her rage. Thinking I’m less educated than her. When my people were the real authors. Getting a talk from my parents like I did something incorrect, but that was not the nature of the subject. It was about how some police don’t see me as a person. They wanna use their powers of assertion. To make me look like an animal, when they is the real primates. They need to start given back for all the blood that was shed.
